CHERRY BLOSSOM IN AMSTERDAM

Visiting Japan in cherry blossom season has been on my bucket list for quite some time and it will probably stay there for a while, so I found a cute alternative for traveling to Japan again 😉 Each spring you will find cherry blossoms in bloom in the cherry blossom park in the Amsterdamse Bos (Forest of Amsterdam). There are 400 cherry blossom trees and they were donated by the Japanese Women Club. The Japanese community of Amsterdam will come to the cherry blossom trees to celebrate the cherry blossoms (sakura).

The cherry blossoms usually appear between the end of March and the end of April and the better the weather the longer the flowers bloom. An easy google search should help you navigate to the cherry blossoms. I contacted the cherry blossom park on facebook, just to make sure that there would be flowers in bloom once we visited. You can contact them here. We were quite early in the season, but I was very happy with the sight of the cherry blossoms as they just started to pop! We visited on a Friday and it wasn’t too crowded. It was a little busy and there was a good atmosphere of like-minded people admiring the cherry blossoms and photographers taking photos.

It is easiest to visit the cherry blossom park by car as you can park really close to the cherry blossoms, but there are some public transport options as well. Bring your picnic gear as this is the perfect spot!
