HIDDEN GEM IN PARIS: PARC BAGATELLE DURING ROSE SEASON

JUNE 2026

Over the years I have visited Paris many, many times. However, I had never visited at the end of May. I love seasonal experiences and the end of May is the peak period to see roses in bloom. If you are willing to travel a bit out of the city center of Paris you can visit Parc Bagatelle, which has several sections with roses. We visited at the most perfect day, when lots of rose bushes hit full bloom and it just looked so divine. Because you have to travel a bit further out of the city center, Barc Bagatelle is not visited by masses of tourists and gives off a more local vibe. So, if you are a flower lover Parc Bagatelle is the hidden gem you must explore while in Paris!

Practical information

Parc Bagatelle is located in Bois de Boulogne, west of the Paris city center. You can easily travel here with public transport, but it will take over 30 minutes, depending on where you start your journey. If you are in this part of the city, it is very worthwhile to also visit the Foundation Louis Vuitton, an art museum in a building designed by Frank Gehry. The parc costs โ‚ฌ 2,8 per adult to enter and young kids are free. An entrance booth, means there are opening hours and those are from 9:30 AM – 8 PM. Please check the official website for any changes. We spent about 2 hours exploring the gardens. If you bring a nice picknick you can definitely stay longer. When we visited there was a little stand selling sweet and savoury crepes, which were perfect for lunch.

The rose garden

Parc Bagatelle is much more than just the rose garden, there are several garden areas to explore, the vegetation is great and there are free roaming peacocks. There even is a waterfall in the parc. We specifically came for the roses, so as soon as we were done admiring the pea cocks we headed for the roses. There are two areas which have lots of roses. Right behind the entrance you will find a large map highlighting all the sections. The most expansive rose section is behind the Orangerie, the other one is less ” landscaped” but lovely nonetheless.

Most beautiful rose garden in Paris

I absolutely loved the roses in Parc Bagatelle. There was so much variety it felt like an explosion of colors. I previously had this feeling in Baden-Baden, which also has an amazing rose garden. I couldn’t stop taking pictures, but it is hard to do the gardens justice. I hope you enjoy my pictures and that they inspire you to do this slightly more off-the-beathen-path activity.
