I had visited Paris in each season, except for spring. You might know that spring is my favorite season, so visiting Paris in spring was still on my wish list. This year my dream came true and I ended up timing my visit perfectly for the “hot” pink cherry blossoms! I was so overjoyed at finally seeing these magical trees in quintessential Paris locations. In this blogpost I will give you my recommendations for the best spots in Paris in spring.
Jardin des Plantes
In Jardin des Plantes you will find some of the biggest cherry blossoms in all of Paris. We were just in time for the peak bloom of the hot pink cherries. We visited them on April 11 2023 and found them looking perfect, timing differs by about two weeks yearly, but usually you can see them around that time. Jardin des Plantes is free to enter and it is a lovely spot to wander around with other plant lovers, we found giant peonies, the tulips were out to play, overall a really good spot.
Grand Mosque de Paris
About five minutes from Jardin des Plantes you will find the Grand Mosque of Paris. Late April the gardens of the mosque are covered in purple wisteria, a super charming sight. We also visited on April 11, so it was still a little early, but we could already see some of the purple magic. Apparently you have to pay a few euros to enter, but we accidentally arrived through the back door and never paid a fee. If you want a fun experience, try the cafe next door. The cafe sells tea and Arabic treats and features a garden in the same style as the Mosque.
Parc des Sceaux
Parc des Sceaux is located a bit outside of the city center, I think it took us almost 60 minutes to get here from our hotel, but it was absolutely worth it. Parc des Sceaux is another free parc and it features over a hundred cherry trees. The parc is famous for celebrating the Japanese tradition of Hanami and over the weekend it can get really busy. We visited on Wednesday April 12 2023 and found the park in a relative relaxed way. The parc is quite big and there is much more to see than just the cherries, we also found a field of tulips and the castle itself is fun to walk around.
Eiffel Tower
In Trocadero parc in front of the Eiffel Tower you will also find cherry blossoms. I expected them not blooming anymore on April 13 2023 and luckily I was wrong and they were still shining brightly! I found the cherries in combination with the Eiffel Tower such an iconic photo, was super happy that we got to witness this. On a sunny day you should bring your picnic gear and fully enjoy the blossoms!
Pont de Bir-Hakeim
Near Pont de Bir-Hakeim you will find a little boating dock and on April 13 2023 it was already covered in wisteria. If you are looking for an original photo of the Eiffel Tower, this is such a perfect spot! If you come a little later in April you will find the bloom more abundantly.
Shakespeare and company bookstore
The Shakespeare and company bookstore features two lovely cherry trees which we also found in bloom on April 12 2023. This bookstore is located in a super popular area of Paris, so if you really want a picture without other people in it, you must come early. The bookstore is located close to the Notre Dame, which also has giant cherry trees, but as the Notre Dame is still being renovated these can now only be admired from afar.
