The last night of our Southern England road trip we stayed in the coastal town Deal. Deal is situated closely to Dover (15 km), so it is an easy stop on the way to the ferry terminal. It only seems popular with British tourists and that might be because of the ever changing weather in England.
To be honest I mainly wanted to visit Deal because the of the Kings Head pub which is located on the central square near to the beach. This traditional pub has won several awards for their amazing floral displays, so I knew I had to admire those.
Besides the Kings Head, Deal also has a Pier with a restaurant. From the Pier you have great views of Deal city, with its colorful houses located at the Beach street. The beach consists of pebbles, so you have to be aware of that. Another activity you can undertake is visiting Deal castle, which actually is a fort.
As we visited in the summer period, Deal is pretty touristy and organizes several events over the summer. We ran into some concerts being held at the central square during the weekend, which created a fun vibe. All in all, Deal was a perfect stop on the way home for us.
