OCTOBER 2025
Over the years I have visited Croatia three times and I will certainly revisit. Croatia has a stunning coastline, historical cities and gorgeous nature, making it a great destination for many people. In this itinerary I have created the perfect combination of everything that Croatia has to offer. If you are short on time, you are able to do this itinerary in two weeks, but you can easily take three weeks and relax more. Have fun researching your Croatia trip!
Road trip itinerary
Day 1 – 3: Rovinj
Rovinj is my happy place in Croatia. It is the perfect combination of Venice & Istria. The old-town is located on a peninsula, surrounded by blue water. The streets are colorful and in Venetial style architecture. At the edge of town you will find bars, from which you can dive into the water. You can find all my recommendations for Rovinj here.

If you spend a few nights in Rovinj, you can also visit Pula for the Roman amphitheater. You can even head deeper into Istria for some real hidden gems, such as the waterfalls of Kotli.

Day 4 -5: Plitvice & Rastoke
You need at least one full day to explore the beautiful nature at the Plitvice lakes. Prices to entry the Plitvice lakes differ depending on season and prices for the high season recently soared to € 40 for a one-day visit, this includes tickets for the boats and buses in the park. You need to book your tickets online, in advance. Despite this being a popular activity, I still would recommend to include it in your itinerary.

In the area you will find the cute waterfall town Rastoke, which is perfect for a lovely lunch when you are done kayaking. If you are looking for a more off the beaten path way to discover this area, try to go kayaking in the Mreznica Canyon. The Mreznica Canyon consists of different levels of waterfalls which makes the kayaking a true adventure. There are plenty of opportunities to cool off and to go for a swim, which is perfect for summer months. Find more information here.

Day 6 -8: Split
You cannot skip Split on your Croatia itinerary. The old town is UNESCO heritage, with the gorgeous Diocletian Palace as the main sight. Even if you have not seen Game of Thrones, you are going to admire the old city center. Definitely spent a few days exploring Split and the delicious Adriatic cuisine.

Day 9-10 Hvar
From Split it is only a short boatride to Hvar. Hvar is known as Croatia’s party island, but it is a great destination for other travellers as well. Hvar town is incredibly charming, with world class food and lots of beaches within walking distance. It’s Croatia’s bougainvillea capital, only Greece beats Hvar in this. Read my full blogpost on Hvar here.

Day 11-12 Korcula
Korcula is Hvar’s less famous sister island. It is a slightly more traditional choice, restaurants are more low key than in Split and Hvar. The beaches are more quiet and you don’t have to come early to snag a spot. This offers a great contrast to the other destinations on the itinerary. Find my blogpost on Korcula here.

Day 13-15 Dubrovnik
I end this itinerary with the gorgeous Dubrovnik. When I visited Dubrovnik in 2016 it was less popular than today, but despite increasing crowds you still should not miss out on visiting. The old city walls and Buza bars are popular for a reason and are one-of-a-kind. We spent one afternoon in Cave Bar More, enjoying the Adriatic sea from the lovely platforms, while sipping on our fancy drinks. You can find the Cave restaurant with the beach bar in hotel More, once you take the elevator down. Another day we visited Lokrum Island by ferry and had a swim over there.
