AUGUST 2023
Today’s blog features my favorite hike in the Jungfrau region! If you are looking for an easy hike, with a very diverse landscape this is the hike for you. You will start this hike with a view of the Eiger Gletscher and as you descend your way down, the landscape will become greener and you will enter fields of wildflowers.
Practical information
We took the train up to Eigergletscher and decided to do this hike downhill. If you are looking for more of a work-out, you should do this hike in reverse and do it uphill. We walked to Kleine Scheidegg first, where we had lunch and then we walked further down to Wengernalp. Originally we wanted to do the Eiger trail, but it is only open in summer, so we ended up doing this hike instead. We completed the hiking itself within 2 hours. I found the hike really spectacular as it starts in the snow, you walk on this little ledge and the scenery constantly changes. From Kleine Scheidegg to Wengernalp you will encounter a little lake and lots of wildflowers, making this a very diverse hike. If you have a bit of patience you can wait for that ultimate shot of a Swiss train riding through the landscape, as a part of the hike is next to the train tracks.
Pictures from the hike
Sometimes pictures tell so much more than words, so I hope these pictures inspire you to do this hike!
