JUNE 2023
When you are doing a road trip on the Peloponnese you will be spoilt for choice if you love ancient ruins. On the Peloponnese you can find sights such as Mycenae, Corinth, Mystra and Epidauros. Because we previously visited highlights such as the Acropolis and Delphi, we decided not to visit them all. I did quite some research and decided that Epidauros was the sight I was most interested in and I was glad that we ended up going.

Practical information
We visited Epidauros from Nafplio, which is about a 30 minutes drive. Nafplio is a well known hub if you want to visit ancient sights on the Peloponnese and we loved staying there. Epidauros has a gigantic car park, so you won’t have any problems parking. We bought our tickets on arrival and were able to walk right in. I had to pay โฌ 12 for an entrance ticket, my mother who is 65+ paid half and toddler Hugo was free. There are some food and drinks stalls on the premises.
Epidauros
Epidauros is most famous for its theatre, which still is very well maintained. It was constructed around 300BC which is incredibly impressive. I mainly visited because the Epidauros is one of the best preserved theaters and was surprised that there was more to see than just the theatre. Epidauros actually was a full on city back in the day and there is many more ruins to explore. I would recommend to plan to be about 1,5 hours in Epidauros. The theater features beautiful views on the surrounding hills, so it is definitely worth it to hike up.
