If you are looking for a bayside destination in Montenegro that isn’t overrun by tourists yet, I would recommend to visit lovely Perast. Perast is just a little bit more relaxed than it’s famous sister Kotor and we had a very good daytrip here, even though the weather didn’t fully cooperate. Perast has a good choice of affordable luxury hotels, so staying the night would be a good option too!
Practical information
Perast is located directly at the Bay of Kotor, it is only a twenty minute drive from busy Kotor. We were able to park for free roadside, at the top of the village. Perast has two official parkings as well, but we noted that those were kind of taken over by hotels for hotel parking.

Perast is visited less than Kotor, as cruises don’t stop here (yet). So now would be the perfect time to visit Perast, before it gets insanely popular. You can still find really good hotel deals in Perast, with views of the bay for a good price. In Perast we really had that holiday riviera feeling, with all the bayside restaurants, the flowery promenade and the beach bars just outside the old town. Besides swimming and boattrips there isn’t a lot to do in Perast, but if you are looking for a few days of relaxing I would highly recommend it. We visited on a daytrip, but because of its proximity to Kotor, you can also decide to stay in Perast and visit Kotor on a daytrip.
