LOWTHER CASTLE & GARDENS: A MAGICAL MANSION IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
I found Lowther Castle a magical piece to visit in the Lake District. The ruin that remained on the ground is super interesting, it has been overgrown with plans and is such a mysterious spot. We discovered that Lowther Castle is one of the most kid-friendly castles to visit in the UK, as its gardens feature a lovely playing area in the style of the castle. I highly recommend adding Lowther Castle to your itinerary!
BURGHLEY HOUSE & GARDENS: ENGLISH COUNTRY HOME WITH A MODERN GARDEN
I always love to break up long travel days with an interesting half-way stop. On our travels from Harwich, where we arrived in the UK to York, we decided to stop at Burghley House & Gardens. I always love to visit English country homes, but I am mostly interested in the gardens. I love English gardens and I always take the inspiration home where our own garden is a work-in-progress.
THE HIDDEN GEM OF DUBLIN: NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDENS
It wasn’t on my itinerary, but Hielke discovered by accident that Dublin is home to some of the most beautiful glasshouses in the National Botanic Gardens. When I saw the pictures, I had to visit this stunning garden! Luckily, we got to visit on the most glorious, sunny day, which is a rarity in Dublin. I fell in love with Dublin’s botanic garden and I think you will too!
