BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS AND FLOWER PICTURE ROUNDUP

It took me quite some time to write a new book recommendation post, not because I don’t read anymore because I am a mother now, but because I was let down by some highly anticipated books. I struggled through Sex & Vanity, the new book by Crazy, rich Asians writer Kevin Kwan and was also very disappointed by the widely applauded Ask again, yes by Mary Beth Keane. On this list you will find some typically me recommendations as well as a few unexpected ones. I will end this blog post with a flower picture round-up. As we are fully enjoying the flower season right now I went on lots of mini adventures to take pictures of the flowers. They didn’t always end up on a blogpost so therefore I have gathered them here.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VISITING THE LAVENDER & SUNFLOWER FIELDS IN SAULT AND VALENSOLE (PROVENCE)

France just reopened! This means you can visit the lavender & sunflower fields in the Provence again. It probably is the most dreamy trip you can make right now. I have visited the lavender fields in England and sunflower fields in Germany before, but they couldn’t beat the fields in the Provence for many reasons. If you are a flower lover you have to visit this area, the smell of lavender alone is worth it! This guide features our experiences of last year, would love to go back with the van!

CAMPING AT BUITENPOST AND THINGS TO DO NEAR DEVENTER

In May I spent a long and cold weekend at the just opened campsite The Buitenpost in Twello near Deventer. The Buitenpost is located at the old terrain of Hof van Twello and the campsite is currently being revamped by the owners of DAVO, the well known pub in Deventer. Unfortunately we didn’t have good weather so we couldn’t enjoy everything that the Buitenpost has to offer, but we did do some small trips to sights nearby. I was really impressed with the rhododendrons at the Sallandse Heuvelrug, a sight not to be missed! Of course we also visited Deventer and we brought a lovely visit to Castle Rosendael.
