We visited the Vitra Design Museum during our stay in Basel, but actually this museum is located in Germany, just across the Swiss border in Weil am Rhein. I had heard about this museum as the building is designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry. I am always keen to visit Frank Gehry buildings and I have previously visited the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris, which is also designed by him. You may also know Frank Gehry from the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao or the Dancing House in Prague. I am not always lucky when visiting museums, but this time there was an interesting exhibition about visionary interiors of the past 100 years.

My mother and I brought a super spontaneous visit to Sintra in Portugal, because I still had some free time before starting my new job. Sintra had been on my list of cities to visit for a while now, as I was interested in visiting some of the beautiful and colorful palaces near Sintra. We decided to stay the night in Sintra and finish our trip to Lisbon, but you can easily stay in Sintra for three nights to take your time visiting all of the castles. We found Sintra a true fairytale, the surroundings are super lush, flowers were already in bloom in February and the castles were absolutely gorgeous.

It’s been years since I last visited Lisbon and besides the elevators and yellow tones I don’t remember a whole lot. So it was about time to head back again, as I had some time left before starting my new job. My mother and I booked a spontaneous flight, when we noticed that the weather in Portugal would be absolutely lovely at the beginning of February. Over the years I have grown an obsession with decorative tiles, so our time in Lisbon was mainly spent looking for the most beautiful tiles. I also had a second mission and that was to convince my mother that Lisbon is a beautiful city, as she did not come to that conclusion the last time she visited..
